Patrick Swayze, who is battling pancreatic cancer, has been hospitalized for pneumonia. The 56-year-old actor, however, is hopeful to get back in time to promote his A&E series, The Beast, which premieres next week.
A&E president Abbe Raven broke the news of his hospitalization while speaking at a press event for the Television Critics Association in Los Angeles. Here’s the original statement,
Patrick has asked that I tell you that he has checked himself into the hospital this morning for observation after coming down with pneumonia. As anyone who has had a friend or family member that has undergone treatment for cancer, chemotherapy can take a toll on your immune system. Patrick did want me to tell you that he is very sorry he couldn’t be at the panel this morning, but he plans to get back to promoting The Beast as soon as he is back on his feet.
My prayers are with Patrick and his family. And I’m sure he’ll bounce back and prove that he is a strong guy. Get well soon, Patrick!
