Posh quits Spice Girls to become fashion designer, band splits

Victoria Beckham has hammered the final nail in the Spice Girls’ coffin. The band has split–for good. Posh’s firm decision to quit the band in order to pursue a lucrative career in fashion designing made sure that the gig in Manchester a week ago was their final performance in the UK with their last ever concert in Toronto on February 26. Posh’s association with the band would now be limited to her looking at the pictures from the past, smiling and cringing to herself.

Now that sons Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz are convinced that mommy was actually a pop-star once, Posh has little interest left in the band. The Spice Girls, having lost the indispensable Posh, decided to sever their world tour.

So far, they have performed in the UK, Canada, the US, Madrid and Cologne. Instead of playing dates in Australia, Argentina, and China the five will finish the reunion tour in Toronto on February 26. Their song’s headline (Friendship Never Ends), which only reached No 11 in the charts, will be their last single, 11 years after their debut Wannabe raced to No 1.

We don’t yet know what the other Spices (Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C) wish to take up. The word is that the two Mels did not want to continue. Mel B desperately missed her family on the long tours and inspite of being drenched with offers after Dancing With Stars, the band didn’t hold the intense attraction for her as it did earlier. Sources spill that Mel C too was fast losing interest in the band as she felt it was jeopardizing her solo career.

We hope Posh’s new career brings her lesser criticisms than her singing abilities.
