Roaring Sensex Bull touches 18K on Tuesday

On Tuesday, the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex created a new record by touching the 18,000 mark for the first time in the history of Indian stock market. It took seventeen years for the Indian stock market to touch the 18,000 mark as the Sensex had touched 1000 mark on July 25, 1990.

The most interesting part of the roaring Bull’s story is that it took only eight days, (2nd shortest journey), to go from 17,000 to 18,000-mark. Earlier, the Sensex had touched 17,000 on September 26 in just six trading sessions from 16,000.

According to report, some of the biggest index gainers on Tuesdaywere Reliance Energy (6.4%), Reliance Communications (up 6.1%), Bharti Airtel (4.08%), Maruti Udyog (2.89%) and Tata Steel (3.57%). Cipla, down 0.93 per cent, was the only Sensex loser. Foreign Institutional Investors have invested $3.54 bn in cash market on Tuesday.
