Salman arrested at Jodhpur airport, to spend at least 4 days in jail

The Rajasthan Police quickly arrested Salman Khan when he arrived at Jodhpur airport on Saturday. On Friday, the local court had rejected Salman’s petition against 5-year jail term in the connection with the Chinkara poaching case.

On Saturday morning, Salman took a flight to Jodhpur with some family members, friends and his lawyer Dipesh Mehta and reached Jodhpur at around 1 PM. He told media persons before leaving for Jodhpur that he is ready to face the judicial process.

He said:

I have full faith in the law; I will abide by the law. Nobody has told me to get there but I am going there as a responsible citizen who abides by the law.

He said later that he had missed the flight from Hyderabad to Jodhpur. He had to appear before the court for hearing of the case. According to the report, Mondays and Tuesday are the court holidays, so, Salman will have to spend at least four days in jail before moving further application in the court.

Earlier in April, the chief judicial magistrate’s court in Jodhpur that had sentenced him to five years “rigorous” imprisonment and fined him Rs 25,000 in the connection with Chinkara poaching case.

Later, Salman had filed an appeal against the judgment in the district and sessions court. The people of Bishnoi society had claimed that Salman had killed two chinkaras and two blackbucks over three days in the Ghoda farm near Jodhpur on September 28, 1998.
