Sanjaya Malakar,
the ousted American Idol star is enjoying the fame. Malakar, better known for his frisky hairstyles was also the most-talked about attendee at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.

Sanjaya Malakar, at an after-party for the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner said,

It’s been really a whirlwind. I’ve just been trying to ride the wave and go one day at a time.

Malakar, dressed in blue pinstripe suit with styled curls was surrounded by bodyguards and publicists all night on Saturday.

Malakar, 17, was a guest of PEOPLE, joining fellow celebs Valerie Bertinelli, High School Musical star Zac Efron, Project Runway’s Tim Gunn, comedian Eddie Izzard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Other stars at the event included singer Sheryl Crow and Laurie David Kerry Washington, and Desperate Housewives stars Hatcher, James Denton and creator Marc Cherry.

Global warming was the talking point at the White House Correspondent’s Association dinner, but the things got heated up when singer Sheryl Crow and Laurie David walked over to Bush’s adviser Karl Rove.

And the 17-year old Idol reject was at his table when a tall, middle-aged man asked him for an autograph. The boy’s hosts, from People magazine, tried to shoo him away.

We are trying to let him eat, they explained.

The man protested: But I’m the governor of New York.

And Eliot Spitzer finally got his autograph.

Monday night, Malakar will read the Top 10 list on the Late Show with David Letterman.

And now the former Idol star sets his sights on a future beyond music,

I want to go into acting or modeling, maybe Broadway. He thinks doing a hair commercial Would be awesome!
