The critics have said that the Sardar Sarovar project has been displaced more than 35,000 people who were living in the dam area.

Earlier in 1987, the construction work started to build the dam as 1,250m-long and 122m-high.

Later, the project went into long delays, legal disputes and protests.

Narendra Modi said that India has taken a leap ahead. The dam will change the future of the country and Gujarat will benefit from it.

A ceremony would be organized later in the month. On that occasion, the dam would be dedicated to the people of the four states such as Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

There would be no any further construction to on the dam’s structure over its current height. It has been criticized on the matter of its height but the Supreme Court had refused to stop the height of the dam from being raised.
