Indian women are facing extinction. Surprised? What else can be said when females continue to be strangulated in mother’s womb itself. May I question the youth of this country, ever thought of a scenario in which India will be girl-less? What will you do? What should you do to stop this rising trend of female infanticide? Ever thought what should be done to curb such a dismantling scenario? If not, think now!
Sex ratio in India stands at a paltry 933: 1000. It means there are 67 women short of every 1000 males. Meaning that many boys from our next generation will be compelled to remain single because girls are being deprived of taking birth. What a grim scenario facing the country, where female was no less than a goddess.
The main culprit behind the throttling of unborn girls is the sex determination procedure, which has proved bane for them. Sex determination tests, though forbidden continue to have their sway in this country.
Female infanticide or feticide in the country needs to be curbed. As a responsible generation, it is up to us to stop it forever. It is our responsibility to awaken those who are still indulged in killing their unborn daughters. Educated youth of today need to stir a revolution for saving the girl child. Educate those educated ignorants who commit such heinous crimes.
Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) is trying to showcase a Parenthood campaign in this regard. Other NGO’s should also come forward and play their part to curb female feticide. Television can play a bigger role in awakening and propagating this message through serials and advertisements. Bollywood movies can be directed in this regard. Campaigns in different and most vulnerable parts of the country would also help.
I am thankful to my parents for giving me the opportunity to see this world, educating me and making me stand tall and feel no less than males. I ask every male from my generation, do u think girls have no right to take birth? Why that craving for male child? Why such a savage behavior towards girls when world itself cannot move sans girls?
This is my message to all those would-be parents, do not snatch the right of taking birth from your daughter.
