Scarlett Johansson cuts debut album, to release on May 20

scarlett johansson to release long awaited album

Critically acclaimed actress Scarlett Johansson, 22, has a new feather in her cap. Her lovely, whispery voice came as a pleasant surprise to one and all when sang ‘Just Like Honey’ in public for the first time as the backing vocal of reunited The Jesus and Mary Chain at the 2007 Coachella Festival. Soon after, she is all set to having her very own music album adorning the shelves at music stores.

Scarlett???s debut album is going to boast of ten songs written by Tom Waits, the famed songwriter and composer, and one written by the singer herself. Johansson will portray the titular character on ‘Mary Queen of Scots’. the production is taken by Dave Sitek from TV on the Radio and collaborations come from Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist, Nick Zinner, and Celebration’s Sean Antanaitis. The album is under Atco Records, an imprint of Warner Music Group’s Rhino Entertainment. Johansson recorded the album in Maurice, Lousiana at a Dockside studio.

However, there is still some confusion as to the final naming of the album. Reportedly, it???s going to be either ???Anywhere I Lay My Head??? or ???Scarlett Sings Tom Waits???. I personally like the former better. What do you say?

The album, all set to release on May 20, has high expectations pinned onto it.
