Oprah’s ‘The Color Purple’ to bid adieu on Feb. 24th

Emmy award winner and producer Oprah Winfrey’s spectacular show ???The Color Purple??? is all set to bid adieu after its last performance on February 24, 2008. Its last performance is scheduled in the evening at the Broadway Theater.

The show will come to an end after its 940 performances that were performed in it’s three-year run on the stage.Winfrey co-starred in Steven Spielberg’s 1985 epic film ???The Color Purple??? and later in 2005 she was credited as the producer of the show ???The Color Purple??? which was made into a Broadway musical in the same year.

The show received huge popularity in its three years of run and has grossed a record $103 million (£51.5 million). Inspired by Alice Walker’s novel and Steven Spielberg’s film, the play came as a nice opportunity to American Idol stars like LaToya London and Fantasia Barrino. ???The Color Purple??? has featured known stars like former Destiny’s Child star Michelle Williams and currently it stars Chaka Khan and BeBe Winans.
