Shakira- the all time favorite pop diva and Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the Nobel Prize laureate joined hands with a noble aim of fighting poverty in Latin America and for this the sensational duo launched a star-studded foundation on Tuesday. Poverty is the biggest social evil in this country as every year it takes toll on approximately 350 000 lives every year, and The Latin America in Solidarity Action, aka ALAS in Spanish is all set to work for this cause only.
Rather than rooting out other foundations working for the same cause, ALAS looking forward to join hands with them and strengthen the existing efforts.
“We all have to do our part to fight against inequality,” averred Shakira in a news release issued just before the launch ceremony.
And the best part about the mission is that these two women are not alone. On the contrary a whole league of renowned artists are there to support them in the best possible manner. Other artists coming forward for the good cause includes Ruben Blades, Juanes, Ricky Martin, the rock group Mana, Aleks Syntek, David Bisbal and Alejandro Sanz.
