Shallow-fried king mackerel

King Mackerel or Surmai is highly consumed in the coastal belts of India as well as in North Carolina. King Mackerel, considered to be high in Omega3 fatty acids, is available in fillets, steaks or whole and is usually fried with spices, broiled or baked.

The recipe of fried Mackerel is as follows:

Ingredients

Mackerel fillets
Ginger-garlic paste
Turmeric Powder
Chili Powder
Cumin Powder
Coriander Powder
Lemon Juice
Oil
Salt

Method

1. Marinate fish with lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, spices and salt. Keep aside for an hour.

2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan and place the marinated fillets.

3. Simmer the fire and cover the pan until one side of the fillet is well-browned.

4. Once the bottom side of the fillet is well-browned, flip the fillet and cover the pan for 5 more minutes.

5. After both the sides of the fillet is well-browned, serve it with rice and lentils.
