Big Brother winner, Shilpa Shetty is the new brand ambassador of clothing giant Marks & Spencer.
The Bollywood beauty who found herself in the middle of a racial controversy by Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd and singer Jo O’Meara, in course of the Channel Four show in January, attended a shoot for the high street label’s Autumn/Winter 2007 collection on Tuesday in west London.
The contract is worth £150,000 approximately, but the actress may be re-signed if the sales increase significantly. An unnamed source close to the actress was quoted saying,
Shilpa is delighted, she went into the Big Brother house to get herself some exposure in Britain, so she couldn’t have asked for things to have turned out better for her. She is still talking to a number of film producers about acting roles, but to be the face of such a popular store is an amazing gig for her.
Signing Sixties model Twiggy resulted in soaring sales in Britain, so the clothing chain have roped in Shilpa alongside to appeal to the younger market. Erin O’Connor, Laura Bailey and Lizzie Jagger were also a part of the recent advertising campaign.
As the careers of Jade, Dani and Jo have almost hit the rock bottom, it seems that Shilpa has had the last laugh.
