On his 60th birthday, Sir Elton John, the musical legend received a birthday tribute from none other than Bill Clinton, the former U.S. president.

Mr Clinton made a public speech in front of 20,000 fans of Sir Elton at a concert at New York’s legendary venue Madison Square Garden. It was Sir Elton’s 60th performance at the venue. The celebrity fan mail who came to extend greetings to the now sexagenarian singer included Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams, who appeared on stage, Sir Michael Caine, Keifer Sutherland, Jon Bon Jovi, Lulu, Matt Lucas and David Walliams.

During the three-hour power-packed show Sir Elton dedicated Something About The Way You Look Tonight to partner David Furnish and paid tribute to John Lennon. The 25 songs that he performed were accompanied by vintage images of the star and included superhits like Daniel, Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, Crocodile Rock, Tiny Dancer and Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting.

Mr Clinton surprised stunned the audience at the house-full show when he appeared to introduce Sir Elton and said,

Thank you for coming tonight to help celebrate Elton joining my favourite club, the 60-year-olds’ club. I love it every time he plays. He reminds me we’ve all got a little bit of juice left. Elton has given us enough just from his music – there’s nothing quite like it.
