South India’s two wives syndrome

bigamy2The latest news of Taliban killing an Indian revealed with itself the hot gossip that engineer K Suryanarayana had two wives.

This buzz may be beyond belief for most of us but not for all those who belong to South India. If you belong to south and have not exampled this at your place then I am sure you must have definitely heard or spot this in your neighbour, it’s quite a common custom in South.

Quite a bomb shell revelation, most of the south India is affected by this two wives syndrome even though it’s not legal in India.

Let’s just have a sneak a look at this south Indian syndrome

Security agencies must be facing real tuff time when DMK was in power, as most of the ministers had two wives. Security for two houses and perceiving minster is with which wife at what time, quite a tough job….

Late M G Ramachandran, too had two wives.

Oops don’t be dazed our own Mr.Karunanidhi has married at least three women, the first of whom is dead. He carves up time in the houses of both wives – mornings at the Gopalapuram residence with Dayaluammal afternoons with, Rajathiammal, at CIT Nagar in Chennai and evenings don’t know where.

Our Tamil actor, Gemini Ganesan, is not lagging behind in the wife race, married five times while his first wife was alive. Quite interesting…..

One of the top Union ministers from Tamil Nadu is also known to have two wives…. it’s a hush-hush and following his foot steps is senior DMK official, who didn’t mind even marrying his daughter’s classmate.

What a prevalent craze, more or less like a religious conviction that too with so many aficionados?

I think, till now the bigamy was illegal throughout India, with the exception of the Muslim community which is exempted from the anti-bigamy law on religious grounds but now days are not too far and no wonder infact when we are going to count Andhra pradesh, infact whole South India as an exception too.
