Tamil film director Sami of Uyir fame would never dare to vent out his ire on any actor once he resumes his career in direction after one year. The incident happened on the sets of Tamil film ‘Mirugam’ (animal) while he asked the actress Padmapriya to extend shoot though she was not aware and informed of the same.

Padmapriya questioned Sami that why he wanted to extend the shoot. Sami then told her that she did not perform up to the mark in her previous shots so she need to put her more efforts during the extended time.

Padmapriya protested and told him that she should have been told of the same at that juncture only and it is very unprofessional on Sami’s part to blame her now and ask to extend the shoot. On hearing this Sami lost his cool and slapped her on her cheek. Padmapriya immediately packed off and left the sets.

Later she lodged a complaint against Sami at the Actors Association. Following which Sami has been banned from direction and will not be allowed to direct films for one long year.

Though Sami apologised to Padmapriya at a meeting of Federation of Film Workers and said that he just wished to take out Padmapriya’s acting prowess through his unmanly action.

This ban comes for the first time in Tamil film fraternity.
