Teenage girls molested by mob outside Wankhede Stadium

wankhede molestation

Where is the safe place for women? Women are not safe even in the presence of more than thousand people. On Wednesday, the crowd gathered to cheer the Indian cricket team molested two teenage girls in full public view. The incident happened outside Wankhede stadium on Wednesday when both the girls came in a group of college students from Jai Hind College just to welcome Indian cricketers.

It was like a repeat story of the molestation incident that had happened at the Gateway of India during the New Year celebration. At that time, in the presence of more than 1000 people, some pervert-minded and Drunken people had stripped and molested a girl and even had torn her cloths in full public view, while her friend watched all the drama helplessly.

Both the teenage girls, with their friends (five boys and 15 girls), had come to Wankhede Stadium to watch the reception for the Indian cricketers. According to the TOI report, they were walking along Marine Drive and suddenly the bus carrying cricketers arrived. People started gathering near the bus and the police started pushing the crowd away from the bus.

When police pushing the crowd away from the bus, one of the girls, Neha Soni, suddenly fell into a slushy ditch by the side of the road. Neha Soni told TOI that when she started crying for help, some strangers helped her for taking her to safety.

In the pretext of pulling her out, the strangers moved her to a corner. The people surrounded her and started molesting her. Neha also said that the men even had their hands inside her jeans.

Neha said:

They did it for ten minutes. There were so many men. I couldn’t fight them. The horror ended only after the cricketers’ bus moved on carrying the mob with it.

One of Neha’s classmates, Nupur Desai, said that they were not the only victims; they saw many girls crying on the footpath. On the other hand, Dilip Chavan, senior police inspector at Marine Drive police station, promised to take cognizance of what happened to the girls on Wednesday.

Such incidents expose the dark face of the Indian society where people have, in fact, no respect to the women it seems.
