Amy Winehouse is in the news for all the wrong reasons these days. However, one tends to forget that she is a critically acclaimed artist who won 5 Grammy awards and also received rave reviews from music critics. Her eclectic taste in music may have been encouraged by her parents and musical upbringing but somewhere along the way, she went completely off the track. Drug and alcohol abuse, mental illness and destructive Blake for a husband, the troubled singer doesn’t seem to be a rising star anymore but a fallen one. One may wonder if she is unconsciously trying to live up to her eccentric and often destructive public image. She could also be really sick and in need of psychiatric help and a change of scene and atmosphere. Probably the man behind all her troubles is her father, who iron handedly tries to manage her career and public image. These are some of the questions that may pop up in our minds but we may not get a ready answer. For the moment, it doesn’t look like we will get to hear any of her great music for sometime until things change for the better for her, personally and publicly.
