A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
Also called as the ‘People’s President’, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was India’s 11th president and held office from 2002 to 2007. A renowned scientist with a degree in aerospace engineering from MIT, Madras, Kalam was instrumental in spearheading the nuclear tests conducted by India in 1998 in Pokhran. He had also written a book titled ‘India 2020,’ which talks of his ambitious plans to turn India into a fully developed nation by 2020. Despite all this fame and recognition, Kalam chose to remain a bachelor.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Serving as India’s Prime Minister for three non- consecutive terms from 1996-2004, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was one of the main founders of the Bhartiya Janata Party aka BJP, which is currently in power. Vajpayee is also a renowned poet and his work has been featured in many magazines and newspapers.
