Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine has used ‘The Long Man’ of Wilmington in a stunt for their fashion show, Undress The Nation and this had resulted in a good deal of controversy. They had given the Long Man a temporary female look by adding pigtails, breasts and hips. A petition was issued not to telecast it and that required 200 signatures and at last 700 people signed the petition but, the footage was shown on ITV on November 20.

A pensioner even remembered how ‘The Long Man’ was colored green during World War II so that it did not get detected. She also said that the people were wrong to protest because it is not anyone’s property and this did not cause any damage to the structure anyway. The ‘Long Man’ is best known as the symbol of masculinity and Trinny and Susannah along with 100 women, had tried to give a feminine look.

There are two human hill figures in England and the Long Man is one of them. The other one is in Cerne Abbas, Dorchester and is called Cerne Abbas Giant.
