Live TV witnessed its most embarrassing moment tonight when Australia???s Next Top Model host Sarah Murdoch, daughter-in-law of media magnate Rupert Murdoch, accidentally named the wrong winner on live television. Sarah declared 19-year-old Kelsey Martinovich as the audience-voted Top Model, but moments later she was in a terrible situation as she apologized for her blunder and crowned 18-year-old Amanda Ware as the true winner. The confusion started due to the neck-to-neck position of the contestants in the show???s first ever three-way finale and resulted in a debacle via a miscommunication between the broadcast truck and the stage.
However, Foxtel, the broadcasting company, saved the situation by issuing the following statement:
Sarah handled what was a difficult situation with utmost professionalism and grace. Amanda and Kelsey were neck and neck in the voting all night. We apologise to Kelsey for the error, and Foxtel will be sending her to New York as well as awarding her $25,000 as a prize.
