Now do not star lynching me on this. Hear me out. I repeat: population growth could turn out to be a boon to the economy
Almost half of India’s population is younger than 25- it gives the country a potential edge over China.
China runs the threat of economic slow down in the future because of an ageing population. The one-child policy does not help things either.
Thus, while India is entering the demographic dividend phase, China is exiting it. One point for India, none for…
The Demographic dividend period, which usually lasts from 20 to 30 years, will make greater proportion of people to work. It will also cut spending on dependants and will be aiding economic growth.
By the time this dividend phase will end, that is around 2045, India will have achieved a stable and balanced population.
Now, tell me. Was I right or not? Two cheers for overpopulation!
