China and India, both are among the fastest growing economies in the world at annual growth rate of ten percent and eight percent respectively.

However, the World Bank has warned China and India, both, to take immediate and strong steps to curb corruption in the country. Otherwise, the boom in the economies will go falter.

Both the countries have scored poorly on to control corruption. According to the World Bank report on the corruption level in 200 countries, China was placed at 31, and India ranked at 47th place in the list of most corrupt countries.

Daniel Kaufmann, Director of global governance at the World Bank’s research arm, said,

both the countries are not in the right zone. To get more constant rate of the growth these countries should concentrate on the poor enforcement of the rule of law.

Corruption leads to political instability and poor infrastructure and further results in the low rate of development. India and China should get rid of this.
