Yet another Golden Globe award for Steven Spielberg

Steven Spielberg is going to be honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille award at 65 th Annual Golden Globe awards function on 13 th January 2008 for his ‘outstanding contribution to the entertainment world’. Spielberg has received six Golden Globe awards till date.

The Dreamworks studios, has experienced some of the most honoured pictures in past years and has enjoyed critical and commercial success under his leadership.

Some of the top class films liked by the audience round the world are ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘E.T. The Extra Terrestrial’. ‘Saving Private Ryan’ was one of the year 1998’s most honoured films and had won five Oscar Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.

‘Schindler’s List’ won seven Oscar Awards and two Academy Awards and this film was admired internationally. Seven BAFTA Awards, Golden Globe Awards and his second DGA Award shall also be added to the list of awards for ‘Schindler’s List’.

Spielberg had won his first DGA award for his work on ‘The Color Purple’. Spielberg has been nominated for DGA Awards ten times and that is the highest number ever reached by anyone in history.Spielberg is now busy with ‘Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ as a producer and this film is going to be released on May 22, 2008.

Spielberg was born on December 18, 1946 and started making films in his teens. His 22 minutes short film, ‘Amblin’ was shown at the Atlanta Film festival and this gave him the chance of becoming the youngest director for signing a long term contract with a major Hollywood studio. His achievements did not end here and he went on getting awards and making films and a lot of them are being awaited.

The 65 th Annual Golden Globe Awards will take place at The Beverly Hilton on Sunday, 13 th January, 2008 and there will be a live telecast on NBC at 8pm (EST), which is produced by Dick Clark Production associated with Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
