Bangalore takes brutal way to deal with street dogs

The home ministry in Karnataka has ordered to pick 1000 abnormal dogs off the streets every day. After this decision, the animal shelters in Bangalore have been packed beyond the capacity. The city had gone for debate over dog threat since four years back when some street dogs had mauled four-year-old Manjunath in Bangalore.

Recently, the Government decided to launch a massive drive against stray dogs in Banglore after two children were mauled to death in less than three months.

Now, the municipal officials are catching the dogs and more than 1200 dogs have been picked in last five days. The animal shelters are full of dogs and as there are only four shelters with a capacity of around 120 each. Moreover, the BMP are randomly picking up dogs off the streets.

Most teams are catching dogs indiscriminately despite the order to pick non-sterilised and ferocious dogs. They get a price of Rs 50 per dog and earning money.

Now the big question is in front of every one that if the shelters have no space where are the dogs being kept? Have a look on the statement by L T Gayatri, Chief Health Officer, BBMP. She said: We are looking at some temporary shelters to house the dogs.

Most of the animal activists are making allegations that the dogs are being culled. The same is being done not just with terminally ill dogs or ferocious dogs, but even with the healthy ones too.

Now, I will show you the reality. One of my friends has sent me some pictures that showed that the dogs are being killed brutally by using acids. This is one picture I am posting on this page, as the pictures are so horrible that I cannot publish all pictures here. You can find more pictures here.

A Bangalore resident Padamavathi Bhardwaj reacted on the killing of dogs by saying as;

I want to know what are they doing to these dogs after taking them away? Are they being killed or burnt? They are upset about a tragic incident of a child, but what happens to these dogs? They don’t have a spokesperson, right?

The administration in Mysore and Mumbai is also going to take the similar decision. That means the similar inhuman story will be repeated again in many more cities.
