This 57-year-old conman has reportedly promoted his fake bomb detectors as a special kind of intellectual gadgets and sold them at 27000pounds each to armies and police forces around the world. Moreover, it has also been revealed now that in March 2008, he attended a couple of seminars for learning how to sell the devices to the UN and which the UK Trade & Investment department organized. There he also met with many British officials who help in promoting and advertising British business in foreign countries. However, it is still not yet confirmed if the staffs present at the seminar knew that the devices were fake or not but it has been confirmed that the Department of Business already warned about the possible dangers of selling these devices.

Relating to this incident, another report has been revealed that in November 2008, business minister Ian Pearson received a controversial dossier titled, ‘Dowsing rods endanger lives’ saying that these devices are seriously going to hurt or kill people relying on it and that the gadgets are nothing but some hand-held aerials which are fixed to common plastic hinges. Although James McCormick has been convicted at the Old Bailey with three fraud counts but how he convinced military chiefs and government officials around the world about the authenticity of his fake bomb detectors is still a matter of discussion. But unfortunately, his million dollar scam allowed many suicide bombers to bomb cities and crowded places successfully in Iraq and resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries of innocent people.
