The CPM leaders get another chance to remain in the news as ‘the party of protest’. Mohd Afzal will be hanged until death on Diwali eve, October 20 in Tihar jail in the Parliament attack case. There are some protests reported in the valley asking for the presidential pardon for Mohd Afzal.

The CPI(M)’s Central leadership has said that President should interfere in the case and stop the death sentence from being carried out. On the other hand, the party did not forget to say that this stand does not show that they are in favour of soft approach towards terrorists. What an example of double standard!
They did not even think about the constables who died to save the temple of democracy in India and their family members. The JKLF-sponsored protests are carrying out in the valley to gain political weight in the state. What the CPM leadership is doing in Delhi?
Just look at a statement made by Yusuf Tarigami, the man-in-charge of J&K unit of CPI(M), the death sentence was intolerable, the peace process is on in valley and it could hurt the progress of it.
How can the peace process be disturbed if a traitor, who executed the plan to attack the Indian Parliament, is going to be hanged?
Let’s see another incredulous statement made by Sitaram Yechury, we do not want capital punishment. But we cannot interfere in the legal process. It should be pursued. Terrorists should get maximum punishment.
The CPM leaders should rethink on their decision because this is not good to play politics anytime, anywhere.
