D-day this week for accused No. 117 Sanjay Dutt

sanjay dutt verdict 26

Earlier, on September 16, I had written an article in India Daily on Sanjay Dutt in the connection with ’93 Mumbai blast under the headline Should Accused No-117, Sanjay Dutt, Get Another Chance? .

We got many well-written comments in this article. Most of the people, who made comments in this story, has urged the court to release him because of his changed life style and showing himself as good human being.

As I wrote in the article,

He spent 18 months in jail and further 13 years with regular court hearings. He, still, does not know that, at the end of the day he would be a free man or not.

He has led a good life since been out of jail 13 years back. He never disobeyed the court’s regulations on him. He never misbehaved with anyone, never reacted in the court. He showed his good character and has gained sympathy of people.

One of our regular reader from LA, Gaurav, has given excellent comment on Nov 6, 2006.

He has written as

Sanjay Dutt has suffered enough whether or not he is guilty….. He might have done something wrong but one should never forget that sometimes (because u are a celebrity) u are pushed into things that you wouldn’t normally do……….

For keeping a gun, i guess 18 months is enough….. dont just penalise him because he is a celebrity!!!!

The other comments are also nicely written and our readers have shown their deep thoughts in this case.

Now, the D-day has come for Sanjay Dutt. The TADA court has asked Dutt to be present in court on Tuesday.

There is a relief at least for Dutt as the TADA court acquitted Ajay Marwah on Monday. Ajay Marwah was the co-accused with Sanjay Dutt in this case. He was charged for destroying the AK 56 rifle and pistol that was with Sanjay Dutt.

Now, the TADA Court is expected to deliver the judgment in this week. Now, Dutt’s future is sealed in the judgment with the TADA Court and whole country is waiting for verdict.
