Come May 2008 and American illusionist and stunt performer David Blaine would be preparing for his new stunt. That would be to remain awake and defy sleep to create a world record.

Certainly, this new daredevil step is fraught with dangers and David’s life would be in peril while he embarks on his new challenge. Confirming the news celebrity columnist Cindy Adams said:

He’ll break the world record for staying awake. Trust me.

However, considering Blaine’s track record it hasn’t come as a surprise to his fans and well wishers. From spending more than a month in a transparent plastic box above the river Thames in London, to remain frozen in a icecase in New York’s Times Square, Blaine has done many nerve chilling stunts.

But now Blaine has decided to surpass the previous sleep deprivation record of staying awake for 11 days, or 266 hours. And it has been learnt that Blaine has been preparing for the said stunt and will leave no stone unturned to accomplish this fatal yet ambitious task. The stunt man said:

If you thought my previous stunts were intense, this new one will leave you speechless. I can’t reveal any details (yet) but I’ve started preparing and training for the most dangerous and death-defying challenge of my career.

I wonder is it daredevil attitude and a quest to perform deadly tasks that makes Blaine popular amongst ladies. No wonder he has dated beauties like Fiona Apple, Madonna, Josie Maran, Lonneke Engel, and Daryl Hannah. The list would lengthen further once he sets new sleep deprivation record.
