A sketch of Jesus Christ is reported to have bled from its heart at the Bishop’s House of Churches in Andaman. After the spread of the news Christians started gathering at the Bishop’s House. According to the CNN IBN report, the bleeding has been stopped but people are still coming in large number to see the portrait.

Eric Nathaniel, owner of the portrait, said that he had bought the sketch of the ‘sacred heart’ at Car Nicobar during the Durga Pooja mela in 2003.

According to the report, Nathaniel’s family had seen the bleeding from the portrait for the first time on March 8. They all were stunned to see the bleeding from the heart of Jesus in the portrait. Later, the family decided to keep low profile and did not disclose the incident to anyone.

He said:

I was afraid no one would believe it and we would be criticized for talking about something which is foolish in the eyes of the world. We lit candles and prayed and after some time the blood dried.

On March 10, they noticed that again blood coming out from the hands and heart of another portrait of Jesus hung in next room. On March 13, the same incident repeated and the family decided to the people. At that time bleeding did not stop and flowed continually until March 18.

The CNN IBN has reported further that many people, including some journalists, also witnessed the bleeding from the portrait.

Denis Giles, Editor of a local Andaman daily and Andaman Chronicle said:

Call it a miracle or a mystery, it appeared to be true. There was something unusual as there was no chance that a laminated cardboard portrait could bleed.

Later, the priests of Anglican Church of Northern India have taken the portrait to CNI church and now it is available for public viewing. According to Denis, the portrait was bleeding even after it was taken to the Bishop’s house too.
