Modi dares Congress to field Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat Polls

The Congress party is ready to field AICC General secretary Rahul Gandhi again in the driving seat to take charge of campaigning in another assembly election. Rahul Gandhi, after becoming unsuccessful in leaving any respectable mark in the Uttar Pradesh assembly election, will have to work hard for wooing the voters in favor of Congress in Gujarat.

On the other hand, the CM Narendra Modi has dared Rahul Gandhi to take charge of Congress’s campaign in the upcoming assembly election. He asked Rahul to come out with his blueprint for the state’s development.

Modi said:

Let Gujarat be a training ground for him and let him use all his skills to convince the people of Gujarat about his politics. In this election, people have already set the agenda, not any political party.

Modi has thrown the ball in the Congress’ court by inviting Rahul in the poll campaign in the state. If the party leadership would accept Modi’s challenge, it would be tough for Rahul to answer Modi’s charisma is Gujarat. If they don’t invite Rahul to the poll campaign in Gujarat, it will be widely perceived as a victory of sorts for Modi. It would also deflate the morale of Congress workers in state.

After the Tehelka sting, Modi said that it was the desperate act of few people to assume power in state at any cost. He said that let them attack; he would be focused on development and security of the state.

According to him, he is not against anybody’s love for minorities, but he is certainly against the growing trend of ‘minorityism’ in politics. He said he had raised his voice against PM’s statement in which he declared minority’s first claim over resources. Later, the PM had realized his mistake unconditionally.

At present, Modi is busy highlighting BJP’s government report card on different issues, such as in the fields of economic development, farmers’ interests, education, women’s welfare, tribal development and in building a security cover around the state.

This is difficult to challenge Modi’s charisma in Gujarat and Congress is still searching a good political leader to field him as its chief ministerial candidate ahead of the election. The Congress party is looking highly dependent on the role of BJP’s rebel leaders in the state but believing on rebels in the name of poll preparation will be a suicidal step for Congress in Gujarat.
