Women in Bihar had not enjoyed good times in administration, politics and teaching in the state during early years. The Nitish Government is working hard to grant the equal rights, equal social status and equal opportunities to women of Bihar in almost every sector.
If this pace of the development will continue as it is going on now, Bihar will be at the top position with regard to the empowerment of women.
Women in Bihar have occupied 50 percent seats in the Village Panchayats, Block Development Committees and District Boards. This is not the end; the government has promised to give one-lakh posts of teachers in the government-run primary and secondary schools to women.
Moreover, the women will have the age relaxation of maximum three years for these jobs. This move of the government is unique in India as Bihar is only state to provide job reservation to women in government schools. The recruitment drive has began today in Bihar.
The state cabinet has further approved the similar reservation for women in the upcoming civic body elections too.
