Indian Intelligence agencies have got the threat of suicide attack on Sonia Gandhi and family members. The Times of India has reported that the National Security Advisor M K Narayanan called on a high-level meeting in the home ministry with Home Secretary V K Duggal, Intelligence Bureau Director E S L Narisimhan and RAW chief P K H Tharakan and reviewed the security cover provided for Gandhi family.
Intelligence agencies have given reports that some of Pakistan-based militant groups are planning to carry out a suicide attack on the Gandhi family.
Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will go for poll campaigning in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttranchal and Punjab next year.
The security agencies are more concerned for their visit to Uttar Pradesh because of the reports of the presence of active cells of terror groups such as Lashker-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed in the state.
The government is planning to go for an extensive concentrated effort to identify and catch the Pakistani nationals hiding in the Uttar Pradesh before the poll campaigns.
