The famed Titanic duo of Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio have been named as the most romantic onscreen couple of all time by a poll conducted by ABC TV and People magazine. More than 500,000 movie watchers were asked to select their favorite movie choices and characters in one of the most extensive polls ever conducted. The Titanic duo was voted above classic pairings like Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable of ‘Gone With the Wind’. ‘Pretty Woman’ duo of Richard Gere and Julia Roberts grabbed the third spot in the list.

Toronto Sun writes:

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s doomed relationship in 1997 film Titanic has earned them the title of most romantic onscreen couple of all time… and the stars earned almost a quarter of the votes for their turn in James Cameron’s epic.

It is not a secret at all that Kate and Leo make a great onscreen couple. But to say that they are the best onscreen lovers ever is a bit of an exaggeration. People tend to like sacrificing heroes. May be that’s why they have gone for Kate and Leo. The man sacrificing his own life for his love is always an attractive proposition for the common movie goers. Or else, why did their pairing in Revolutionary Road fail to make much of an impact at all? Not even the slightest shadow of Titanic was visible there. Also, the fact that there were rumors floating around recently about an “affair” between the two may have played in their flavor.
